Hi! I’m Joddie Walker.
We are living through very difficult times. Our mental health has been challenged as we seek to find our path forward. The stress of childhood events, life events and family stressors can challenge our ability to find the joy in a day. At JWalker Trauma Trainings and Interventions, we are committed to helping individuals and families build a life worth living.
I teach individuals to become agents of change by harnessing the power of resilience.

I’m a psychotherapist in private practice and I also train other therapists, teachers, and individuals how to harness the power of relationships to support children who have difficult behaviours related to trauma and attachment disruptions. I build on this learning to include the four pillars of resilience.
In addition to my clinical practice, I conduct training throughout the USA and Canada on topics such as line of duty death, victimology issues, sexual offenders, secondary traumatic stress and multi-disciplinary team approach to child abuse response and treatment.
I conduct critical incident debriefings and I have facilitated critical incident group debriefings for hundreds of front-line public health nurses and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Training and Clinical Supervision
You just need the skills to cultivate calm in the chaos and tame the stress that comes from serving others.
I am bringing the knowledge and skills I have developed through over thirty years of training and working with clients to other therapists, individuals, and teachers. The impact of your resilience and calmness can make a huge difference in people’s lives. For All
My commitment to the healing process and resilience doesn’t end when I leave the counselling room. My vision is to provide a supportive environment for all to enhance their skills through actionable strategies.
I hope you will join me in this journey!
Adult Clients
I don’t approach treatment sessions from a textbook or an academic exercise. Safety and trust have often been shattered. The therapeutic process begins with establishing rapport and building trust with me. As I follow alongside the journey of those I work with, I teach you the actionable skills and strategies that will aim to build upon your personal resilience, to (re)gain a peaceful and prosperous life
Children and Youth Clients
My experience in treating trauma didn’t start in the graduate school classroom. It started in a courtroom where I supported child witnesses recount their own victimization in front of the very person that harmed them. These children had to demonstrate courage by talking about their experiences in front of strangers, supressing terror and shame in effort to hold the person accountable for their actions. This work, combined with 30 years of professional experiences, launched me forward to implement interventions that would help children and families heal from trauma.
First Responder Clients
I have unique experience working with first responders. I understand the culture of those working in law enforcement, fire services, paramedic services and correctional settings. I specialize in treating first responders who have a clinical diagnosis of PTSD, anxiety and/or depression. Often, first responders seek support for symptoms that are disrupting their quality of professional and personal life. Together, we discover the source of the distress and create a treatment path to wellness.
First responders are unique and I value the trust they develop in our work together. My support and treatment extends to the first responder family members as well
Envisioning a World with Hope and Healing
Joddie holds a Masters of Science in Forensic Psychology and is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and a Certified Trauma Specialist from the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children. She holds Diplomate status with the American Academy of Traumatic Stress and is a National (USA) Credentialed Advanced Advocate. Joddie has 30 years of experience with domestic violence, child sexual abuse, sexual assault, adult survivors of child abuse, families of homicide and first responders.
Joddie’s philosophy of treatment is the use of evidence-based and trauma-informed practices in a strength-based, multi-disciplinary approach. With vast experience working in the criminal justice system, she understands the secondary victimization that compounds the primary trauma and thus integrates a multi-system approach to her work to minimize such. Helping clients become empowered in their own healing, Joddie is trained in TF-CBT, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Structured Intervention Trauma-Child and Adolescent (SIT-CAP). She specializes in trauma treatment, grief and loss, stress and anxiety issues for children, adolescents and their parents. Additional areas of expertise include a sub-specialty with first responders and their families and other professionals who are in the helping profession who may be experiencing PTSD or secondary traumatic stress.
Joddie’s passion is to support you in finding your inner strength. Joddie offers psychotherapy, workshops, training and consultancy, virtually and in person.
Joddie is available for consultation to professionals and organizations. She is an international speaker and has developed and executed multi-disciplinary agency policies for the front-line service providers.
